One of the first rules in blogging is nobody wants to hear you apologize for not blogging. Because I’m quite certain no one is waiting with baited breath for me to drop my next post so I won’t apologize for being mostly absent.
Since the kids have been out of school, I, um, apparently don’t have time to work anymore or much of anything else so that I can cart my kids around town to all of their activities. Right? You are in this same boat with me I’m sure…and I would not change any of it most of it for anything in the world. There is just something about summer, unscheduled pool visits and late nights playing outside and impromptu ice cream stops that just make life very happy.
Via my iphone…and for the benefit of my kids someday, when they read this and when they complain to me about how busy they are with THEIR kids – oh please girls – your Momma has SOOO been there.
The videos we made for Simplicity will be available on their website, available to retailers and my understanding, at kiosks in JoAnns where they will be selling these Simplicity machines.
Candie does amazing felt work and jewelry designs that are fabulous! And she’s a hoot! You should visit her blog and check it out – it was a whole new world to me to see the work she does.
Carolee was a blast to talk to – her daughters all work with her in her scrapbooking business that now includes fabric and ALSO clothing?! She has a boutique line that I love, love, love! You’ll find Carolee’s fabulous stuff here at AdornIt! Click on the Boutique section to see the fabulous clothing they have – I swooned!
I had to promptly hang it in my peas room afterwards…please tell me your kids have hundreds of stuffed animals on their beds too, right?
As a reward, we let the girls get ice cream from the ice cream truck. It was funny because my girls were like, “What’s that music? What is that??” – living in the country, they had not seen an ice cream truck before. They loved it!
In between all of these things in the last two weeks I tried, although not very well, to work at my day job too (had to take vacation days just to take care of my family!). If you’ve emailed me or requested something…I will get to it eventually but it would be a good idea to message me again as a reminder. Just sayin’…
I’d like to say things are winding down but swim, swim, swimming this week, 4H sewing clinic and sleep away camp later this week. PLUS…I may or may not be filming some sewing classes to offer online!
What are you up to this summer?
xoxo,
Trish

I was the friend hosting the garage sale…it was a busy few days and everything not sold was officially donated this morning! I Ioved seeing how happy the girls were doing the lemonade stand and getting excited about earning $ for the foundation. Great life lessons. I so wish I had my camera handy when the icecream truck came by! The looks on their faces were priceless. The icecream mad did drive us crazy as he parked his truck with the music playing and shopped at the garage sale. He bought $20 worth of stuff but we were so happy to have him leave and take his music with him!
I love that your girls raised money for charity from their lemonade stand. I hope my boys will agree to that this summer when we do our lemonade stand. The stand decorations were terrific, too!
My girls really enjoyed it and our decorations, a bowl full of lemons, a mason jar of straws, and a no sew banner using steam a seam to attach each piece to a premade bias tape strip. Easy! Fun! Good lesson in giving!
Completely understand the girls and the ice cream truck!! I was over 20 years old when I moved in with my new husband to our apartment in the suburbs. One day I heard this music and was like, “what is that?” Husband said, “It’s an ice cream truck.” I replied, “You mean they really exist?” I grew up in the country and thought ice cream trucks were just something on TV. 😉
Our girls are only 10 and although they had seen them on TV they too, didn’t know they were real. Now sprout keeps talking about it and the “bad bad music the i – keem man played”. Ha!
I think you need a new word, “busy” just doesn’t describe how much you do! We just got back from visiting my mom & grandma, after nearly 2 months of having to postpone the trip over and over, so it was so nice to finally get to see them! DH started his new job today, that’s a big change of pace. Lots of fun sewing going on here. 🙂 A friend has been coming over w/ her kids and I’ve been guiding her and her 9yo in a sewing project while the younger kids all entertained each other. A birthday & party will be coming up in a few weeks, so I need to start working on that! And last but not least, I’m going to have to tackle to school uniform project I gave myself – that’s becoming more & more intimidating!
Girlfriend, your list is longer than mine! Whoa!!
Our summer starts on Wednesday after report cards with a trip to the water slide park. I’m tired already after reading your post, though!! Hope you get to slow down just a little on the long weekend.
You are in BC? Just now getting out of school? How long are your kids off for summer? Long weekend – celebrating independence Day – yea!
Wow! You have been a busy bee! Enjoy it all before your kids grow up! I’m still waiting patiently for the owl bag and pattern. No worries though, I want you to have a great summer!
But joy in making you an owl bag – I do love projects like that!
Wow, what a busy, wonderful post. I especially liked the lemonade stand for Charity! I think I might have to try something like that with my kids this summer.
Enjoy the rest of yours! I know mine has been busy too!
I highly recommend the lemonade stand – great fun for the kids!
